V4 Conference
V4 conference in Bratislava, November 2006
This conference of the Visegrad states (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia),
under the auspices of
AIS San Marino,
takes place on November 24/25, with an opening ceremony on November 23.
Its topic is
Perspectives of Language Policy
and Language Rights in the EU
Working languages of the conference are Slovak, English, and Esperanto;
participants from V4 countries can give their talk in their own
official language.
The programme comprises talks in the following sections (blocks):
- Block 1:
EU languages as experienced by EU insiders and outsiders: how is language
policy decided on and experienced?
- Block 2: What do globalisation, europeanisation, and the expansion
of English mean for the maintenance of national languages
and linguistic diversity?
- Block 3: Can international language communication benefit from the
planned language option?
- Block 4: The formulation and implementation of language policy in the
Visegrad countries as member states of the EU
The conference is organized by the
House of Europe Bratislava
and
under the auspices of Dušan Čaplovič, Slovak Deputy Prime Minister.
